I was born and grew up in Norman, Oklahoma. After high school, I moved to Texas to attend Baylor University. I graduated from Baylor with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders, then I graduated with a Doctor of Audiology from the University of Texas at Dallas! UT Dallas Callier Center has one of the top Audiology graduate programs in the nation. I definitely reaped the benefits of training at such a great place. As a graduate student, I completed research on hearing aid outcomes from a humanitarian hearing aid clinic in Mexico. I was intrigued when I met an audiology and engineer couple working with ComCare International to bring solar-powered hearing aids to children and adults who would otherwise be cut off from the world of sound. During graduate school, I loved the science classes because I found them fascinating. When I was able to begin fitting hearing aids, I saw what a big difference I could make in someone’s life so easily! I knew I wanted to continue helping people by fitting hearing aids. I found my niche in helping people right where they are: in their own homes. Fitting hearing aids on-site helps me to know exactly what the patient is hearing daily and I can adjust the hearing aids accordingly. Patients tell me they appreciate the convenience of the home visits!
